Things Getting Heated at Barrymore’s

The future of the once-legendary Ottawa nightclub, Barrymore’s Music Hall, is uncertain after the property’s landlord locked out the club owner in a dispute over the heat, despite the province’s pandemic-induced moratorium on evictions.

Landlord Louis Antonakos said he was forced to “take action” on Jan. 25 in order to turn on the heat after pipes froze in the ground-floor store occupied by another tenant. He said Barrymore’s owner, George Syriannis, refused to turn it on, despite a written request several weeks earlier.
