The Ottawa Senators Foundation is asking fans to help raise funds for
masks and shields to keep health care workers safe while dealing with
novel coronavirus concerns.

The Foundation’s Shielding Heroes Campaign, which also involves
contributions from Alstom, Claridge Homes, Edelman, HP Canada,
Horizant Solutions, Nautical Lands Group and the Thistledown
Foundation is aiming is aiming to raise $500,000 for the production
of more than 40,000 face shield frames and 120,000 face shields. A
total of $250,000 has already been secured for the project to protect
doctors, nurses and patients during the next three months.

The effort comes after Dr. Anna-Theresa Lobos, Medical Director of
CHEO’s Emergency Team, asked for community help. HP Canada, in
partnership with LEO Lab, is now designing and producing the shield
equipment. Approximately 3,500 face shield units can be made
weekly and the initial batch expected to be delivered to hospitals in
