OLH Spotlight: Pellegrini Opera

From its inception in 2004, the mission of Pellegrini Opera has been to make great operatic music available to all individuals, regardless of their age, income, demographic background, or knowledge of music. Pellegrini Opera was created by internationally-acclaimed soprano Maria Pellegrini who is committed to bringing opera to people who would not normally have the opportunity to experience it.

Maria recognized that many people are discouraged from attending operas because of the significant cost. Maria also longed for a way to bring opera into the lives of children and teenagers, in order to expose them to this vibrant art and open their ears to music different from what they were used to listening.  She wants to show students how the story lines of the great operas relate to their own lives, conquering the myth that operatic music has nothing to do with the modern world.

Their next staged production will be La Bohème by Puccini from April 24-25, 2015 at 7:30pm, at the Dominion-Chalmers United Church.
