Arts, Culture & Heritage Program: Sing Ottawa en chœur!

June 23 – June 25

Sing Ottawa en choeur! is a celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday through choral music. Everybody is invited to come and hear the history and diversity of our country in song. This event will be a weekend with five contrasting concerts featuring The Cantata Singers of Ottawa, Capital Chamber Choir, Ottawa Regional Youth Choir, Ottawa Children’s Choir and a Guest Choir and many more local musicians; the music will include choral works from throughout our history, representing the cultures of the Canadian people and reflecting a range of styles including traditional, contemporary and popular. We will also encourage everybody to participate in our final concert. Prior and during the performance weekend there will be a series of singing workshops and rehearsals open to all, irrespective of experience, culminating in the final Canada Confederation Celebration. A fun and enjoyable opportunity to sing a range of music with other singers and a professional orchestra. Led by two of Ottawa’s leading conductors, Jamie Loback and Andrew McAnerney, the weekend is intended to encourage more people to sing and participate in Ottawa’s rich choral scene while having fun learning about and celebrating Canada’s music and musicians.
